Our Summer Vacation Scheme will run from 22 June to 3 July 2026, across our Birmingham, London, and Leeds offices. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work alongside our legal teams, and learn more about our departments and culture. Throughout the scheme, we will be assessing candidates for a place on one of our Training Contracts.

What to Expect

During your two-week placement, you will be based in one or two of our legal teams, working on a variety of tasks. You will be supported by a dedicated supervisor and receive constructive feedback to help you grow. The scheme also includes:

  • Training and development activities, including a group project presented at the end of the scheme.
  • Networking opportunities with trainee solicitors, partners, associates, and central business services colleagues.
  • Insight sessions from our departments to help you understand our work, our clients, and our purpose.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates who:

  • Are in the final or penultimate year of a qualifying law degree or the final year of a non-law degree onwards.
  • Are on course for or have achieved at least a 2:1 in their undergraduate degree.
  • Have achieved BBB at A-Level or 120 UCAS points in an equivalent course.
  • Demonstrate skills in creative problem solving, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, prioritisation, and time management, with a technical solution focus.

Application Process

The stages of the application process are:

  • Written Application: to understand more about your motivations and aspirations, and why Capsticks is your firm of choice to help develop your potential. Submit your application by the 23:59 31 December 2025 deadline (Please note: we may close applications early due to high demand, so do apply as soon as possible.)
  • Psychometric Assessment: if you are successful in your written application, you will be invited to complete a short psychometric assessment to assess and gain insights on your abilities and cognitive skills.
  • Assessment Centre: if you progress from the psychometric assessment, you will be invited to an in-person assessment centre in our Birmingham, Leeds or London office on 26 January, 30 January, or 2 February 2026. At the assessment centre you will undertake individual and group exercises, along with an interview with Partners.

Vacation Scheme Placement

The placement dates are 22 June - 3 July 2026 and you must be available to attend our Birmingham, Leeds or London office for the full duration. During the placement you are able to meet a variety of people from across the firm and experience the firm's culture and our values for yourself. The scheme is well structured with dedicated supervisors at hand to enable successful you to gain first-hand experience of life as a trainee solicitor. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and show what you can bring to the firm, so we encourage you to show us your potential. Throughout your time with us, we will be assessing you for a place on one of our Training Contracts for 2027 and beyond. Outcomes on Training Contract offers will be communicated within two weeks of completing your placement.
