Role: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Specialist

Location: Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester & Winchester

The HR team is instrumental to the firm’s ongoing success in achieving our business goals to attract, develop and grow talent. There are 18 of us and we cover core HR services including; HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services, Pay and Reward, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Role purpose and remit

Working closely with the Head of Inclusion and Engagement, you’ll support the delivery of our DEI strategy and plan 2025-2029 with a particular focus on supporting and guiding our Employee Network Groups. The role reports into the Head of Inclusion and Engagement.

The role

Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to advisor for our four Employee Network Groups, providing support, guidance and direction to help them deliver on their objectives and annual programme of activity
  • Lead and organise DEI events across all five offices, for example, our in-person Iftars
  • Produce DEI communications and educational pieces for key inclusion campaigns such as International Women’s Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, Pride, South Asian Heritage Month and Black History Month
  • Coordinate DEI projects and programmes, e.g. 10,000 Black Interns, Women’s Network Mentoring Programme, and the race and ethnicity network’s Reciprocal Mentoring Programme
  • Develop and deliver DEI training sessions on topics such as Conscious Inclusion for new joiners and disability-inclusion for line managers
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., senior management team and Internal Communications Manager) and external partners (e.g., Business Disability Forum, Stonewall and Mindful Business Charter)
  • Track DEI spend
  • Manage the inboxes for the Employee Network Groups

Person specification

  • Previous experience in a DEI-related role or equivalent experience, ideally within the legal or professional services sector
  • Good understanding of the needs of underrepresented communities
  • Knowledge of disability, LGBT+ and religion and belief inclusion best practice
  • Experience of planning and implementing projects successfully
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Can work collaboratively and form good relationships and networks both internally and externally
  • Good presenting and facilitation skills; comfortable engaging with colleagues at all levels
  • Good written skills; ability to write clearly, concisely and convey key messages to demonstrate impact
  • Good attention to detail

Our philosophy is flexibility by default and we have a core-hours system of 10.00am to 4.30pm; the balance of hours is discussed with your line manager.
