Our purpose is to deliver results that matter. We are proud to be the firm of choice for organisations who work to make a difference. We are committed to putting people first, doing the right thing and forward thinking.

We have handled many thousands of regulatory cases over the last 20 years, covering case investigation, preparation and presentation. We work for seven of the ten health and social care regulators, as well as regulators in legal services and education. We have worked on some of the most complex and high profile cases faced by professional regulators, including for our own regulators, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Bar Standards Board (BSB).

Our reputation across the regulatory sectors built on providing proportionate, timely and high quality case preparation and presentation and a service that demonstrates value for money. Our breadth of experience means that we are at the forefront of regulation, legislative and policy changes and best practice. We have the experience, resources and systems in place to deliver the services to a high quality and within agreed time frames.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Join our Birmingham, London, Manchester or Winchester office as a Barrister within the Regulatory Division to help build and develop our practice and respond to increasing volumes of work, serving clients locally and nationally.
  • Primarily present cases at final substantive hearings and represent regulators at interim applications and case management hearings, including cases involving dishonesty, fraud, sexual misconduct and serious instances of deficient professional performance.
  • Work with expert witnesses and support vulnerable witnesses and those with additional support needs to give best evidence.
  • Contribute to case direction at all stages of investigation and preparation, including evidence reviews, allegation drafting, opening notes, case summaries, and written applications/skeleton arguments.
  • Advise on all types of legal and evidential issues arising during case preparation and presentation, and engage in broader advisory work with clients, including statutory powers and other regulatory issues.
  • Potential opportunities to appear in the High Court and the First Tier Tribunal on appeals from regulator decisions, depending on qualification and experience.
  • Involvement in training for panel members and in-house teams, and opportunities to participate in continuous improvement projects.
