As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead our engineering and facilities function, ensuring every venue operates safely, efficiently and to the highest luxury standards.

The Role

The Head of Maintenance will provide strategic leadership across maintenance support throughout the Caprice Restaurants estate. You will be responsible for developing preventative maintenance programmes, leading external contractors and the engineering team, ensuring statutory compliance and driving operational excellence across all restaurants. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring regular travel across our UK estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering & Maintenance
    • Lead the engineering strategy across all Caprice Restaurants locations.
    • Develop and implement preventative planned maintenance (PPM) programmes.
    • Ensure all restaurants operate safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.
    • Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and kitchen equipment maintenance.
    • Develop robust reactive maintenance procedures and emergency response plans.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure full compliance with statutory legislation and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage all planned inspections and certification including: Gas Safety, Electrical Testing, Fire Safety Systems, Water Hygiene, Lift Maintenance, Ventilation & Extraction, Refrigeration.
    • Support Health & Safety audits and work closely with the Health & Safety team.
    • Maintain accurate compliance documentation across the estate.
  • Leadership
    • Lead and develop the maintenance manager and engineering team.
    • Manage external engineering suppliers and service partners.
    • Drive a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
    • Establish engineering KPIs and performance reporting.
  • Financial Management
    • Prepare and manage repairs and contract maintenance budgets.
    • Monitor maintenance spends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Drive energy efficiency initiatives across the business.
    • Improve asset lifecycle management to maximise return on investment.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Support Operations Team with engineering expertise.
    • Ensure minimal disruption to restaurant operations.
    • Implement systems to improve response times and service levels.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainability.

About You

You’ll be an experienced maintenance leader with a strong background managing multi-site operations within luxury hospitality, hotels or premium retail. You’ll bring:

  • Significant senior maintenance or facilities management experience across multiple sites.
  • Strong knowledge of building services, M&E systems, commercial kitchens and hospitality infrastructure.
  • Excellent understanding of statutory compliance and health & safety legislation.
  • Strong financial and budget management skills.
  • Outstanding contractor and stakeholder management.
  • Proven leadership experience developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with exceptional attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services or Facilities Management.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Relevant technical certifications in electrical, HVAC or mechanical disciplines.
  • Membership of a recognised professional engineering body is advantageous.
