We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Advisor to join our team working on the Portsmouth Water AMP8 framework. As a Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about creating a safe work environment and making a meaningful impact on the people they support. As part of the Cappagh Health & Safety team, you will be instrumental in maintaining a compliant, proactive, and safety-first culture across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Support and Implement Health and Safety Policies: Support the review and update health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards in the workplace and on site, assess associated risks, and recommend and implement effective control measures to mitigate those risks.
- Perform Inspections and Audits: Carry out regular workplace and site inspections and internal audits to verify compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Deliver Training and Raise Awareness: Provide health and safety training to employees and management. Promote awareness of workplace hazards, safe work practices, and regulatory responsibilities.
- Investigate Incidents and Accidents: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses. Determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed and up-to-date records of risk assessments, training sessions, inspections, incident reports, and other health and safety documentation.
- Monitor Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about current health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry trends. Update company policies and practices as necessary to maintain compliance.
- Advise and Support Management: Provide expert advice and guidance to management on health and safety matters, contributing to decision-making and strategic planning.
- Promote a Positive Safety Culture: Foster a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, effective communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualification
- NEBOSH Construction certificate & 3 years demonstrable (minimum) experience within the Groundworks – Water industry.
- Award in education and training level 3 (AET) or equivalent training qualification.
- Full Clean driving licence.
- NRSWA Supervisor.
- EUSR Cat 1&2.
Desirable
- Experience, knowledge of the Water industry, Water Mains, Services and meter installation.
- Environmental Qualification IEMA or Equivalent.
