Cappagh Contractors Construction (London) Ltd is looking for a proactive and influential HSEQ Manager to help shape and drive our safety, quality, and environmental performance across our sewer network repair and maintenance operations. Working closely with our HSEQ Director, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our integrated management system, supporting operational teams, and championing a culture where safety, quality, and environmental responsibility are at the heart of everything we do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the HSEQ Director in delivering the company’s HSEQ strategy and ensuring alignment with business and client expectations.
- Provide expert advice to directors, project managers, and site teams on all HSEQ matters.
- Oversee high-risk activities including deep excavations, confined space entries, lifting operations, and street works.
- Lead internal audits and assurance programmes across HSEQ disciplines, driving continuous improvement.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
- Oversee environmental compliance, waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Mentor and support HSEQ Advisors, helping develop capability across the team.
- Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, and industry bodies.
- Lead SSIP accreditation processes and support external audits for ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
- Produce high-quality reports and performance dashboards for senior leadership and clients.
This is a role where your influence will be felt across the business — from shaping strategy to supporting frontline teams.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior HSEQ role within civil engineering, utilities, construction, or maintenance.
- Strong experience managing high-risk operations such as wastewater/sewer networks, deep excavations, or confined space work.
- Excellent knowledge of UK HSEQ legislation and ISO management systems.
- A proven ability to lead, influence, and drive cultural change.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting senior leadership and contributing to strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6) or working toward completion.
- IOSH membership (GradIOSH or CMIOSH preferred).
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Confined Space training or experience.
- Experience with digital permit systems or mobile HSEQ tools.
