Role Description
The Yard Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Erith, responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the yard. This includes overseeing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, coordinating vehicle and equipment movements, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and compliant work environment. The Yard Manager will supervise yard staff, allocate daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. The role involves checking loads and documentation, liaising with drivers and site managers, and ensuring plant and machinery, including forklifts and heavy equipment, are operated and maintained correctly. The Yard Manager will also support inventory control, contribute to continuous improvement of yard processes, and collaborate with other departments to meet operational deadlines and service levels.
Qualifications
- Strong Yard Management experience, including organizing material flows, vehicle movements, and yard layout.
- Proven Supervisory Skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse yard team.
