Unique VAT Director Opportunity - Rare Platform - High Growth in London

Our client is a globally established fiduciary and financial services provider operating across trust, corporate, fund administration and wealth structuring. With offices spanning the globe and a large dynamic workforce, this is a business operating at genuine scale, serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals, private equity-backed businesses, multinational corporates and asset managers across some of the most complex ownership and investment structures in the market.

This is not a traditional accountancy or consulting firm. It is a high-touch, director-led financial services platform with significant private equity backing. Since its founding, the business has completed multiple acquisitions across numerous jurisdictions and continues to grow, supported by active capital and a clear mandate for further expansion. For a commercially minded indirect tax professional, this is a platform with genuine momentum behind it.

The VAT Director role sits at the heart of a well-established London tax function of 14 and growing.

Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, the VAT Director will take strategic ownership of the VAT service line across a sophisticated and varied client portfolio. The mandate covers both compliance oversight and, critically, the development of a commercial, advisory-led offering, with real scope for cross-border and international advisory work as the business continues its global expansion. This is an opportunity for someone with genuine ambition to shape a service line rather than simply manage one.

The successful candidate will lead on business development, identify and convert advisory opportunities from an existing client base, and build strong cross-departmental relationships to drive joined-up client service across the wider group. There is also a clear succession planning dimension to this hire, with the opportunity to become an increasingly senior figure within the department over time.

Day-to-day, the role encompasses technical review of VAT returns for the most complex clients, leadership of special project work, WIP and billing management, proposal writing, and the coaching and development of the team.

The ideal candidate will be a UK-qualified tax professional with both technical and commercial VAT experience and a strong track record of managing a team. Candidates will need to demonstrate both technical depth and the commercial energy to drive BD and grow a business. Given the international nature of the client base, exposure to cross-border VAT advisory and multi-jurisdictional structures would be a distinct advantage.
