Our client is a globally established fiduciary and financial services provider operating across trust, corporate, fund administration and wealth structuring. With offices spanning the globe and a large dynamic workforce, this is a business operating at genuine scale, serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals, private equity-backed businesses, multinational corporates and asset managers across some of the most complex ownership and investment structures in the market.
This is not a traditional accountancy or consulting firm. It is a high-touch, director-led financial services platform with significant private equity backing. Since its founding, the business has completed multiple acquisitions across numerous jurisdictions and continues to grow, supported by active capital and a clear mandate for further expansion.
The VAT Associate Director role sits within a well-established London tax function of 14 and growing, offering a genuine step up for a senior VAT professional ready to take on broader ownership and leadership responsibility.
The Opportunity
You will take meaningful ownership across a sophisticated and varied client portfolio, supporting the delivery of both compliance and advisory services to some of the most complex client structures in the market. There is real scope to develop commercially, with exposure to cross-border and international advisory work as the business continues its global expansion.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious professional to grow into a senior figure within a dynamic and expanding department, with clear visibility of the progression path above. The successful candidate will contribute to business development activity, identify advisory opportunities within the existing client base, and build strong cross-departmental relationships to support joined-up client service across the wider group.
Day-to-day, the role encompasses technical review of VAT returns for complex clients, involvement in special project work, WIP and billing management, proposal support, and the coaching and development of more junior team members.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a UK-qualified tax professional with solid technical and commercial VAT experience and a track record of managing or mentoring others. Candidates will need to demonstrate technical depth alongside the commercial awareness to contribute to BD and client growth. Given the international nature of the client base, exposure to cross-border VAT advisory and multi-jurisdictional structures would be a distinct advantage.
Why this role?
This is the kind of role that comes to market rarely, a senior indirect tax position outside of the traditional professional services environment, with genuine commercial scope, an international dimension, and a PE-backed platform that is continuing to expand. Opportunities at this level and calibre rarely surface outside of the Big 4 or Top 10.
If you are a VAT professional looking for something genuinely different, with the platform, the client base, and the backing to match your ambitions, we would very much like to hear from you. Please send your CV to opportunities@capitaltaxrecruitment.com to learn more about this opportunity.
