A respected, mid-market accountancy and advisory practice is looking to strengthen its Private Client team with an experienced Trust & Estate Tax Manager. This is a great next step for someone who already operates at Assistant Manager level or above and is ready to take fuller ownership of a client book, with a clear path toward more senior responsibility.
You'll be joining a firm that puts genuine weight behind staff development, offering structured training and real progression opportunities, in a working culture built around flexibility and teamwork.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Owning a portfolio of clients, acting as their day-to-day contact and making sure statutory and reporting deadlines are consistently hit
- Keeping on top of the commercial side of your portfolio, monitoring work in progress, scoping new engagements and agreeing fees
- Spotting chances to bring in extra work from existing clients and helping introduce them to other services the firm offers
- Contributing toward the team's wider new-business goals
- Checking and signing off returns and calculations prepared by more junior staff
- Picking up bespoke advisory pieces as they come up, anything from capital gains work and remuneration planning through to inheritance tax and trust registration matters
- Working alongside colleagues in the broader tax and advisory functions on cross-team projects
- Supervising, coaching and supporting more junior members of the team as they develop
You’ll need:
- A recognised tax or accountancy qualification (such as CTA, ATT, CA or STEP)
- Several years' experience in tax compliance, having already worked at Assistant Manager level or higher
- Solid grounding in trust and estate work, comfortable with inheritance tax returns, trust registration and ongoing trust administration
- The confidence to research technical points independently rather than needing everything handed to you
- A demonstrable history of running your own client relationships well
It would also help to have:
- Some exposure to estate administration matters
- Comfort using standard tax and accounting software packages
- Solid, general Microsoft Office skills
Why join:
The firm offers generous and an excellent package built around wellbeing and long-term security.
