A high-growth, technology-led engineering company is seeking an Engineering Director to take full ownership of its engineering function as the business scales globally.
This is a senior leadership role with accountability across software, firmware, electronics, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing, ensuring technical integrity, delivery discipline, and system coherence across the full product lifecycle.
The Role
- Lead and scale a multidisciplinary engineering organisation
- Own system architecture, software platforms, and hardware-software integration
- Act as senior technical authority, chairing design reviews and managing risk
- Drive predictable delivery from concept through to production
- Embed quality, compliance, and industrialisation into engineering practices
- Partner closely with Operations, Product, Commercial and Finance teams
About You
- Proven experience leading complex hardware-software engineering teams
- Strong technical background (software, embedded, electronics, or systems)
- Track record of scaling engineering organisations beyond early stage
- Comfortable making hard technical and organisational trade-offs
- Experience working closely with manufacturing and operations
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Able to commute to Bristol and eligible to work in the UK
Desirable: regulated or safety-critical environments, sensor systems, industrial IoT, Oil & Gas, Energy, or Nuclear exposure.
