We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to support the upkeep of the council's green spaces. Duties will include general gardening and grounds maintenance activities such as:
- Grass cutting using pedestrian, hand-held and ride-on machinery
- Strimming, hedge cutting, shrub and border maintenance
- Edging, weed removal and general street cleansing
- Litter picking and emptying litter bins when required
You will play an important role in ensuring public areas are kept clean, safe and well-presented.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Able to drive with full UK licence, no more than 6 points and no DR or IN convictions
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual outdoor work
- Reliable, hardworking and keen to develop knowledge within horticulture
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexible and willing to work across any location within the borough
- Available to work overtime on an ad-hoc basis when service demands require
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Horticulture
- Previous experience within a grounds maintenance or landscaping environment
- PA1 & PA6 Pesticide Application certificates
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
