Overview

Compensation is an important component of our Total Rewards strategy. We are looking for a Manager, Compensation to join our International compensation team. This role designs, plans, and implements compensation programs, policies, and procedures in the UK. We operate in a business-casual, collaborative environment with an analytically rigorous, data-driven approach to compensation and a focus on improving the associate experience, including understanding of pay.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with HR and senior business leaders to develop pay programs for the UK Business, ensuring alignment with the HR and business strategy for Capital One in the UK
  • Deliver expert compensation consulting and develop proposals and presentations about compensation programs (including market data and appropriate pay levels/targets) to influence and educate senior decision-makers
  • Serve as the primary compensation point of contact for mid-year and year-end compensation cycles for assigned client groups, ensuring smooth execution and compliance with internal and external controls
  • Contribute to strategic compensation projects or processes across client groups
  • Collaborate with recruiters to develop competitive offer packages for external hires
  • Perform deep analysis on the effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and model potential impacts of alternatives
  • Conduct benchmarking and job evaluations using market data and internal evaluation; regularly analyze market position and recommend market adjustments
  • Research and formulate recommendations on external/internal offers, job leveling, and internal equity using salary surveys and internal tools
  • Draft plans and communications to provide associates, managers, and HR partners with timely, accurate information regarding compensation initiatives
  • Be an influential HR leader who partners with HR analytics and benefits teams to build strategic initiatives beyond compensation
  • Demonstrate understanding of UK labor and pay equity laws to audit, analyze, and develop internal compensation practices
  • Provide compliance consultation to HR and business clients

What we’re looking for

  • Compensation management experience, preferably within a regulated industry
  • Experience building compensation models and conducting pay analysis
  • Experience in a client consulting role
  • Advanced Google Sheets / Excel skills (VBA, macros, array functions) and experience presenting data-based stories in PowerPoint/Google Slides
  • Great attention to detail to understand analytics and how to present to senior leaders
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with many stakeholders to drive compensation decisions
  • Experience with Workday (desirable)
  • Experience with benchmarking tools (BetterComp) or reporting tools (Tableau, Business Objects)
  • Knowledge of HR and compensation, including local laws/regulations relating to compensation

Where and how you’ll work

This is a permanent position and can be based in our Nottingham or London office. We have a hybrid working model: you’ll be in the office 3 days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) and can work from home on Monday and Friday. We’re open to flexible working arrangements.
