Data Scientist / Deep Learning Practitioner

About the Role

Our Data Science team develops Machine Learning and Deep Learning solutions to solve business problems and deliver actionable insights.

This role focuses on creating proprietary deep learning models for underwriting and supporting business partners in developing advanced servicing products using Large Language Models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new deep learning approaches to advance underwriting models.
  • Apply models to new types of multi‑modal data to stay at the forefront of innovation.
  • Provide consultancy to tech and product partners to help design, develop and launch products powered by LLMs.
  • Use business acumen, coding and statistical skills to navigate large data sets and extract actionable solutions.
  • Work cross‑functionally on projects that support key business initiatives and drive sustainable growth.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience developing and deploying deep learning models for sequential data (e. g., time series, language) using LSTMs or transformers.
  • Hands‑on experience with Py Torch, Tensor Flow, or Hugging Face Transformers.
  • Familiarity with pre‑training and fine‑tuning of large‑scale models.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including tokenisation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of probability, statistics, machine learning and large‑data set manipulation.
  • Ability to write reliable, maintainable Python code and adapt to new languages/technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills to present findings to a diverse, business‑focused audience.
  • Drive for continued learning and development of industry‑leading solutions.

Work Environment

This is a permanent position based in either the Nottingham or London office.

You will spend three days a week in the office (Tuesday–Thursday), with Monday and Friday devoted to remote work.

Facilities include on‑site gym and restaurant in Nottingham and a rooftop running track and coffee bar in London.
