Our Mission

We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer (UI) to join our Design team at Capital One. As a company we have a mission to make credit simple, and to achieve this we constantly strive for a more human-centred business. You’ll join our wider Design team and work in cross-functional teams alongside Product, Engineering, Research and Business Analysts to translate big business goals into memorable customer experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver high-fidelity design solutions that span the full project lifecycle, from initial conceptual sketches to production-ready assets and technical specs.
  • Explore a variety of visual design directions rapidly and iteratively, incorporating feedback while maintaining a high bar for visual quality.
  • Be a brand guardian and influence the application of our visual language whilst being an advocate for quality.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system as we continue to add features to our experiences on app and web.
  • Partner with UX designers in ideation sessions and workshops to develop ideas that address both customer and business needs.
  • Use your visual thinking to help team members across disciplines understand, frame and communicate real business problems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams during the development process to translate design vision into flawless, production ready experiences for our customers.
  • Empower the wider team by sharing the latest visual design trends, from visual best practices to new features in Figma and developments in AI.

The skills and experience you'll need

  • A portfolio that demonstrates your creative potential across a variety of platforms (eg. Mobile, web).
  • Skilled using tools such as Figma, Adobe suite.
  • Creative storytelling and illustration skills.
  • Proven experience in UI and visual design, with pixel-level attention to detail.
  • Experience in contributing to and maintaining design systems that determine brand identity (typography, colour, layout) but also implementation rules and patterns.
  • A commitment to inclusive design, ensuring that all visual outputs are fully accessible and meet WCAG standards without compromising on aesthetic impact.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into your design process to increase efficiency while maintaining a critical eye for AI limitations regarding data privacy and accessibility.

It would also be beneficial (but not essential) if you had:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate studies in Design, HCI, Computer Science or other related field.
  • Experience working in an Agile development process.
  • Project management experience, particularly in tooling such as JIRA and Confluence.

Capital One is committed to diversity in the workplace.
