Our Mission
We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list.
About the Role
Product Design is a multi-disciplinary vertical comprising UX, UI and Content. Designers partner with Product and Engineering in cross-functional outcome teams. Each team owns its own roadmap, commercials and a customer-facing agenda. Our Designers work alongside tribe leadership, holding the reins of the product experience across our mobile app, web servicing and agent experience.
What you’ll do
- Lead part of our multi-disciplinary Product Design team (UX, UI and Copy), helping people develop lateral skills that elevate their practice whilst preserving quality in their craft.
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Research and other design team members to apply strategic thinking to design effective, engaging end-to-end experiences that balance user needs, business goals and technological capabilities.
- Drive end-to-end project delivery that aligns and advances cross-functional initiatives.
- Effectively prioritise and deliver in your areas, while proactively supporting the wider team's success.
- Use AI tools across the design process, from ideation through to shipping code.
- Be an active member of the Design Leadership team and champion a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
The skills and experience you’ll need
- A strong leader who has navigated ambiguity in transformation environments and understands the commercial context of multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
- An impressive portfolio showcasing a strong understanding of user experience, demonstrating craft, problem solving in end-to-end environments and use of relevant tools such as Figma.
- Proven experience advocating for the customer and applying user insights to your thinking, alongside experience designing complex solutions for mobile and web.
- The ability to communicate design solutions clearly and articulate the value of customer-centred design in product development.
- Experience working with a design system and mobile technologies, with a deep understanding of mobile UX best practices and platform guidelines.
- A natural collaborator who can build constructive relationships with key partners across Product and Engineering.
- An advocate for inclusive design practices, ensuring our digital products meet accessibility standards and provide a seamless experience for customers of all abilities.
It would also be beneficial (but not essential) if you had:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate studies in HCI, Design, Computer Science or other related field.
- Experience working in an Agile development process.
- Project management experience, particularly in tooling such as JIRA and Confluence.
Where and how you’ll work
This is a permanent position. The role can be based in Nottingham or London, but will require occasional travel to the other office because the UK Design team is distributed across both sites. We embrace a hybrid approach to work. You’ll spend three days a week in the office (Tuesday-Thursday), with Monday and Friday being dedicated work-from-home days. Our offices are designed to inspire and support you.
What’s in it for you
We invest in the growth of our people alongside our business. You will have extensive opportunities to learn and develop your career, including access to up to £5,000 in funding for external qualifications. In addition to career development, our comprehensive benefits package is designed to grow with you, ensuring your wellbeing is prioritised at every stage of your career:
- Wealth & Future: Competitive pension and performance-based bonus schemes.
- Holidays: Start with 25 days of annual leave, increasing with tenure. Need more? You have the option to buy 5 additional days.
- Health: Access premium care through our private medical insurance.
- Family Support: We champion your milestones with enhanced parental leave.
What you should know about how we recruit
