About this role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Capital One’s UK Supplier Management Office (SMO) as a Principal Associate. You will be responsible for managing the end‑to‑end third‑party life cycle for Capital One in the UK, including sourcing, contracting and continued supplier relationship management. Your role will involve partnering with stakeholders to understand market options, support UK Sourcing Community of Practice initiatives, and occasionally act as a Supplier Manager across categories.
What you’ll do
- Act as a sourcing & supply chain subject matter expert working with Category Leads, Supplier Managers and the wider business on procurement activities and best practices.
- Execute on agreed sourcing opportunities, including RFI, RFP, RFX, direct negotiations and contract renewals.
- Collaborate with the wider Supplier Management team to support category activities and negotiate commercial terms.
- Develop supply market knowledge, undertake benchmarking, and work with research partners to bring external insight to our team.
- Build relationships, both internally and externally, to understand changes in the business environment and to deliver on business goals.
- Ensure that all corporate or business unit level policies and procedures are adhered to, and that appropriate documentation supports all sourcing and selection events, including due diligence.
- Support building a Sourcing Community of Practice within our team.
- Engage in managing third‑party relationships with suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact and managing governance structures in line with Capital One’s Third‑Party Management Policy.
- Travel to various Capital One sites and events as required.
What we’re looking for
- Someone with a passion for end‑to‑end supply chain management, particularly in sourcing and supplier management (desirable).
- Experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain function with essential sourcing skills and highly desirable supplier management skills.
- Flexibility to undertake a diverse role across the third‑party lifecycle and categories (essential).
- Strong supplier relationship management experience with demonstrable commercial, risk management, analytical and problem‑resolution skills (desirable).
- Strong commercial negotiation experience (essential).
- Excellent communication, relationship building and stakeholder management skills (essential).
- Experience in risk management and a keen eye for detail to ensure full compliance with all corporate and business unit policies (desirable).
- Contracting experience, including working with COEP Legal on Framework Agreements, core MSAs and SOWs (desirable).
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships (essential).
- Experience in the financial services sector or a similar environment (desirable).
