Location: Hybrid role based in our London offices (EC1Y 8LZ), 3 days a week.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Write complex SQL queries to interrogate transaction and customer data, identify fraud signals, and surface emerging attack patterns.
  • Design and build fraud detection rules from scratch, set thresholds based on data, and iterate based on live performance.
  • Own rules end‑to‑end; build detection, monitor outcome.
  • Work across card and lending data to understand customer behaviour and fraud risk in our product set.
  • Contribute to fraud strategy as the team grows, including input for ML‑based detection.
  • Leverage a background in data analysis within fintech or digital lending; handle high‑volume, messy datasets.
  • Apply SQL concepts such as CTEs, window functions, WHERE/HAVING distinctions.
  • Take ownership from problem detection through to deployment, without handing logic to a tech team.
  • Excel in a small, fast‑moving team where answers are not always obvious.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience in card fraud within a bank, card issuer, or fintech on the issuing side.
  • Familiarity with card fraud systems and related data (Visa fraud platforms, CNP fraud, 3DS/SCA, PSD2 compliance).
  • Experience with APP fraud or faster payment fraud systems.
