What You’ll Be Doing
- Write complex SQL queries to interrogate transaction and customer data, identify fraud signals, and surface emerging attack patterns.
- Design and build fraud detection rules from scratch, set thresholds based on data, and iterate based on live performance.
- Own rules end‑to‑end; build detection, monitor outcome.
- Work across card and lending data to understand customer behaviour and fraud risk in our product set.
- Contribute to fraud strategy as the team grows, including input for ML‑based detection.
- Leverage a background in data analysis within fintech or digital lending; handle high‑volume, messy datasets.
- Apply SQL concepts such as CTEs, window functions, WHERE/HAVING distinctions.
- Take ownership from problem detection through to deployment, without handing logic to a tech team.
- Excel in a small, fast‑moving team where answers are not always obvious.
Nice to have
- Direct experience in card fraud within a bank, card issuer, or fintech on the issuing side.
- Familiarity with card fraud systems and related data (Visa fraud platforms, CNP fraud, 3DS/SCA, PSD2 compliance).
- Experience with APP fraud or faster payment fraud systems.
