What You’ll Be Doing
The Legal team’s job is to provide legal advice and support the business on a wide range of projects, from new products to innovative financing solutions. We aim to act as efficiently as possible and ensure our work is provided in a user-friendly manner so that business leaders have the right information at the right time to make informed decisions.
Capital on Tap is seeking a Legal Counsel to work closely with our Capital Markets team on our debt funding facilities. We recently closed the first European non-bank credit card master trust in a decade and, as we continue to expand across the UK and US, we need an analytical and adaptable lawyer who is eager to be part of our exciting journey.
This is the ideal role for someone who is excited to apply their technical knowledge to a rapidly growing company and understand how the legal documents they negotiate impact the wider business.
To be successful in this role, you’ll enjoy a fast-paced environment and be able to demonstrate excellent critical judgement, risk awareness, attention to detail and commercial acumen. Reporting to our Head of Legal, you will have significant exposure to many areas of the business and senior leadership.
- Negotiating public and private funding structures to fund a growing portfolio of receivables originated by us.
- Drafting and reviewing legal documentation, including working with external counsel to ensure we receive documentation and advice in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to improve processes and ensure our funding facilities work for the new products we develop and for our operational teams.
- You will have the opportunity to apply your legal skills to areas outside of finance to help the wider business. This may include new products, commercial contracts or other business initiatives.
We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years PQE in securitisation, structured finance or capital markets. Secondment or in-house experience preferred.
- A detailed understanding of debt or structured finance transactions (e.g. warehouses, asset-backed securitisations, master trusts or revolving facilities).
- Someone who is excited to join a small legal team to help with the legal structuring, negotiation and execution of debt financing projects with the aim of becoming the “go-to” person for legal funding queries.
- A track record of taking initiative and quickly getting up to speed with complex structures to be able to offer practical solutions.
- A great communicator, who enjoys collaborating with different business teams, external stakeholders and law firms.
- Adaptable, inquisitive and keen to understand all areas of our business.
- Bonus points if you have experience of credit cards or master trusts.
