What You’ll Be Doing
As a Lead Analytics Engineer in our growing Data Platform team, you’ll lead a team of 3 Analytics Engineers responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing our modern data platform. You’ll ensure the organization has seamless access to high-quality, tested, observable, and well-documented data.
This is a hands-on leadership role that balances deep technical work with people and project management. You’ll work with tools like Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Fivetran, and Monte Carlo, collaborating with teams across the business, from Finance and Credit to Engineering and the Executive team. You’ll also take full ownership of the team’s roadmap, strategy, and delivery.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3 high-performing Analytics Engineers, providing line management, regular 1:1s, feedback, and development support.
- Own the analytics engineering roadmap, prioritizing and delivering projects aligned with wider business objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the company (including Finance, Credit, Commercial, Fincrime, and Engineering) to gather requirements and deliver high-impact data solutions.
- Act as the team’s main point of contact, clearly communicating plans, progress, challenges, and timelines.
- Manage and evolve the modern data stack, including Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, and Monte Carlo (for data observability).
- Design and maintain scalable dbt models and self-serve data tools (such as Looker) that empower analysts, data scientists, and non-technical users to access and explore high-quality data.
- Champion data quality and governance, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, observable, and well-tested across regions.
- Implement internal process improvements, including CI/CD, code reviews, observability alerts, and automation of manual workflows.
- Proven experience leading a team of data or analytics engineers, including at least 2 years of direct line management and mentoring.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills—confident working with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels.
- A strategic mindset with experience defining and delivering against a team roadmap, balancing business priorities with technical improvements and paying down tech debt.
- Expert SQL skills and a solid understanding of data modeling approaches (e.g., Kimball).
- Hands-on experience with dbt, including working on large or complex dbt projects.
- Experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and ELT tools (e.g., Fivetran).
- Experience with data observability tools (e.g., Monte Carlo).
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Mode, Tableau), including enabling self-serve access for non-technical users.
- A strong focus on data quality, testing, observability, and performance.
- A track record of delivering clean, documented, and production-grade data assets to support analysis and decision-making.
