We’re looking for an Employment Law Associate to join one of the largest teams of employment and immigration lawyers in Wales. The successful candidate will have experience in providing day to day employment advice as well as a track record of employment tribunal work. Our clients range from international PLCs, central and local government bodies, sports clubs and charities through to claimant work arising from board level disputes. We also represent the British Medical Association, providing tribunal representation to their doctors. We also undertake sensitive, complex, and often high‑profile employment investigations, with our team forming part of the firm’s wider Business Crime Investigations Unit. Whilst previous experience of employment investigations would be helpful, a willingness to learn and develop in this area is the most important.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience
- A genuine interest in contentious employment work and litigation with plenty of drive and enthusiasm to provide an excellent client service.
- An understanding of the importance of client relationships and experience of creating or strengthening them.
- Technical competence and commercial awareness.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with clear written presentation.
- Effective organisational skills with good time management, initiative, and problem‑solving ability.
- The ability to work collaboratively with others, as part of a large team, but also the confidence to work independently.
- An interest in line management and mentorship of colleagues in the team.
- A willingness to travel regularly to Cardiff and occasionally to London, to visit clients and colleagues.
- The ability to undertake legal work in Welsh (both written and verbal) is desirable.
In return, we offer:
- Flexible approach to work
- A balanced approach to working hours, with the ability to work between home and the office as required through our hybrid working model.
- Health and wellbeing: Health cash plan, life assurance and pension scheme, cycle‑to‑work scheme, free yoga sessions, subsidised chiropractor visits and regular wellbeing initiatives.
- Excellent rewards and benefits: Competitive salary, generous recruitment referral scheme, enhanced annual leave with the option to buy or sell leave, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, twice‑yearly promotion opportunities for lawyers, and ongoing internal recognition.
- A great location and working environment: Modern city‑centre offices with excellent facilities, including an onsite chef in our Cardiff Office.
