We are working with a specialist space client who is looking for a Composite Technician to join their team on-site in the Oxford area on a permanent basis. The team you will be a part of is the manufacturing team, which is responsible for assembly and testing of hardware and supporting process documentation to meet quality standards. The role will include performing manufacturing of composites/fibre-based material components to ensure delivery of the company projects.
- Manufacture fibre-based materials components i.e. Manufacture simple tooling/moulds and patterns using epoxy or foam-based materials.
- Support in the assembly of R&D and Space flight hardware.
- Confident in working alone.
- Support in the writing of Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs) and Test Procedures.
- Support in facility management.
- Adhere to internal processes up to completion of tasks and help identify and propose process improvements and, if approved, support the implementation when required.
- Visit sub-contractors/suppliers when required.
- Ability to be flexible in working hours to meet schedules.
Strong discipline in engineering knowledge with strong experience in Assembly of precision components.
- Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of composite manufacturing.
- Demonstrable practical experience of composites manufacturing.
- Demonstrable experience of using Assembly procedures.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrative ability to work on own initiative with forward planning to achieve targets.
- Apprentice trained (Mechanical) a distinct advantage.
- Technical knowledge of machine components.
- An understanding of aerospace processes and components would be advantageous.
- Ability to gain security clearance.
