Capital Fortune Rockhopper is an award-winning protection and mortgage brokerage in the City of London. We are seeking a trainee protection broker to join our team.

Salary: Standard Model £26,000 basic plus 12% commission; Premier Model £12,000 basic plus 30% commission

Hours: 12 to 40 hours a week

Location: 22 Tudor Street, London EC4Y. Office based while you train, hybrid considered once competent.

Leads: Warm, supplied, and found for you

Benefits: 29 days including birthday and bank holidays. Pension. Professional and network fees paid.

Sales experience essential. Protection experience not required. We will teach you the products, the underwriting, and the regulation. We cannot teach you how to sit with a stranger and be trusted inside five minutes. If you have done that in recruitment, estate agency, telesales or retail, the rest is learnable.

You study for your qualifications with the fees paid and take your first cases under supervision. You will not advise a client until you are assessed as competent. No cold calling. No pipeline to build. Every enquiry comes to you warm, from inside our own business. Mortgage clients who need cover behind borrowing we have just arranged. Wills and estate planning clients who have just spent an hour thinking about who depends on them. They are not being sold to — they have already asked the question protection answers.

Our AI technology does the work that is not advice. Calls recorded, transcribed, searchable. Client reports drafted by AI from the transcript, compliance-checked before they reach you. Every file examined before submission, not a sample. Every regulated decision is still signed off by a person with the heavy-lifting done by our AI systems.

Thirteen years. That is how long our average member of staff has been here. We are small by choice, award-winning, and a top-tier writer within our national network. Administration runs every case through to on risk, so your time goes on clients.

What we need:

  • A track record in sales. Any sector. We will want to see the numbers.
  • No insurance or protection experience required.
  • The discipline to follow a documented process, and the sense to see why it exists.
  • The ability to hear what a client has not said out loud.

The money:

Standard Model: £26,000 basic, contractual plus 12% of everything you write, from the first case. Premier Model: £12,000 basic, contractual plus 30% of everything you write, from the first case. No tiers, no thresholds, no cap. We will talk both through before you choose. We will not ask you to take an OTE figure on trust. Reach second interview and our brokers will tell you what they earn.

How we decide:

Your CV and completion of our online psychometric test. A confidential conversation, then an interview with the people you would work alongside. The testing comes first so every applicant is read on the same evidence, and nobody is turned down on a score alone.

We are an equal opportunities employer and recruit on capability. If you need an adjustment at any stage, tell us before you start — asking will not count against you.
