Role: Senior Fund Accountant (Carried Interest Project Management) – (Private Equity)

Department Overview:
The Capital Dynamics Finance team manages all elements of operational finance, reporting, and regulatory reporting obligations. Further, the team provides oversight, controls, and protection to safeguard the firm’s interests and budgets while upholding the financial integrity of the business. The team also collaborates with the business and stakeholders to drive value creation and efficiencies within the wider organization, either directly or by enabling improved performance to support the firm’s continued growth.
Role Purpose:
Capital Dynamics (CD) seeks to engage a Senior Fund Accountant (Carried Interest Project Manager) to join the Capital Dynamics Finance team in our London or Birmingham office.
Working as part of our Finance team, the role holder will operate as a project manager leading the rationalization of our fund administration and \’carried interest\’ operations (CD Associates).
The successful candidate will become a key member of the finance team and will oversee the work delivered by our third-party fund administrators.
The role requires strong general fund accounting experience, proven knowledge of carried interest calculations, and experience working in the private equity or asset management sector.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support efforts on document and data collection, reconciliation, and integration between the legacy and new third-party administrators of CD Associates.
- Supporting the development of internal processes to transition in-house the administration of CD Associates operations.
- Supporting the production and / or review of GP / carried interest calculations and reporting for all Capital Dynamics funds, in collaboration with CD Fund Operations and the third-party fund administrator of CD Associates.
- Working alongside the Legal team on the review of existing limited partnership agreements (LPA’s) to identify and define relevant fund-chargeable services related to CD Associates.
- Implementing operational best practices and internal controls for CD Associates (for Capital Dynamics and the third-party administrator of CD Associates).
- Supporting CD Associates LPA monitoring, compliance, and refinement of existing and new terms for new fund vehicles.
- Working with Tax Consultants to ensure all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements for CD Associates are met.
- Working with the Finance Department and the third-party fund administrator of CD Associates to maintain accurate CD Associates loan positions and credit facilities, where necessary.
- Liaising closely and effectively with our Corporate and Fund administrators, auditors, and tax preparers to (i) support the preparation of CD and Fund financial statements, (ii) answer annual audit queries, and (iii) answer tax-related queries, as needed.
- Reviewing and approving all reporting to CD Associates members (calls, distributions, carry distributions, tax carry distributions, capital account statements, loan statements, carry statements, annual tax statements, etc).
Key Competencies:
- Proven track record in fund administration or fund accounting, finance, asset management / private equity audit.
- Extensive experience in carried interest accounting and calculation is essential.
- Solid technical and working knowledge of the topics of fund legal documents (LPAs) and the fund oversight model.
- A strong understanding of partnership agreements, private company securities, and legal/structural preferences is highly desirable.
- Understanding of US federal tax processes, including K1 / 1065, K2, and K3 filings, is highly desirable.
- The ability to document, justify, and demonstrate complex fund finance, accounting, and fund operation matters.
- Ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data in an efficient manner.
Education and Qualifications:
- Qualified Accounting (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Extensive knowledge of account standards – IFRS, US GAAP, and UK GAAP is beneficial.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years relevant experience, with at least the last 4 working in a private equity firm or similar financial services organization – i.e., Venture Capital, Asset Management, etc.
Languages:
- Must be fluent in English and display superior verbal/written communication skills.
