About Capital Dynamics: Capital Dynamics is an independent global asset management firm with more than 35 years of experience in private assets. Managing over USD 15 billion across Private Equity and Clean Energy infrastructure, we serve a global client base of institutional and private wealth investors from 13 offices across Europe, North America, and Asia. We are a recognised ESG leader – holding Five Star PRI ratings across all categories and delivering strong GRESB results for our clean energy strategy.
Our Clean Energy Business: The Clean Energy team makes direct equity investments in carbon-reducing renewable energy – from late-stage development through to commercial operations. We are one of the UK's largest managers of onshore wind assets, a pioneer in subsidy-free solar PV in Europe, and we have a growing presence in the US. Our approach focuses on de-risking projects at the end of their development phase and optimising performance and capital structure through to commercial operations.
The Opportunity: We are looking for a driven and commercially sharp Investment Associate to join our London-based Clean Energy team. Reporting to a Director, you will be a core member of the investment team — taking an active role across the full deal lifecycle, from origination and due diligence through to execution, financing, and post-acquisition asset management. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for someone with a genuine passion for the energy transition and the technical skills to match.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain sophisticated financial models, including automated outputs and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
- Draft Investment Committee memoranda to support acquisition and divestiture decisions.
- Lead and coordinate due diligence workstreams during deal execution, working alongside legal, tax, and technical advisors.
- Support financing activities across the investment portfolio, including debt structuring.
- Conduct market research and analysis to inform investment theses and strategic decisions.
- Partner with the Asset Management team to monitor and enhance portfolio performance post-acquisition.
- Represent the team externally at conferences, meetings, and investor forums.
What we are looking for:
Essential
- 2 – 4 years in Investment Banking, Asset management, Big 4 Advisory or M&A Consultancy with a specific focus on energy, renewables, energy transition, or clean tech infrastructure.
- Proven track record on clean energy or renewables infrastructure transactions in Europe - experience working on deals in UK and/or European territories including Spain, Italy and Germany, while other territories are highly desirable.
- Exceptional financial modelling skills, including strong command of debt financing models.
- Solid grasp of key financial metrics — IRR, NPV, yield — and methodologies including DCF, LBO, and financial statement analysis.
- Good working knowledge of the legal, tax, and documentation frameworks for direct/infrastructure investments.
- A genuine interest in responsible investment, ESG, and the energy transition — and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Familiarity with renewable energy support frameworks and power market dynamics.
- Rigorous attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work under time pressure.
- A self-starter who thrives with autonomy, adapts to shifting priorities, and manages across time zones with ease.
- Sound investment judgement with a keen awareness of risk and return.
Education
- Minimum bachelor's degree (2:1 or equivalent) from a top-tier university in a relevant discipline.
LANGUAGES:
- Must be fluent in English - both written and verbal. Additional languages are a plus: Italian, Spanish, German, Swedish, Finnish, or others are highly desirable.
PRACTICAL DETAILS:
- Office-based role with a hybrid model - 4 days per week in our London office.
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to travel to our London office for in-person interviews, including a 4 hour technical assessment.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT: Capital Dynamics is an Equal Opportunity Employer. With 23 nationalities represented across 13 offices spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, we believe our differences make us better investors and a stronger firm.
