Department Overview: Capital Dynamics’ Business Development team is responsible for the fundraising of every alternative investment product on the global CD platform, across various markets local to our Firm. We work closely with consultants that serve our Institutional LPs and Private Wealth investors. Whether our clients are global multinationals or regional investors, we’re committed to creating tailored investment solutions based on their goals. Role Purpose: We seek to hire an experienced financial services sales professional to join our Business Development (“BD”) team in London. The Director, Business Development - Sales will be critical in helping to manage and expand Capital Dynamics’ business development and sales activities targeted at UK investors. The candidate will lead fundraising/marketing of CD’s products to institutional Investors primarily within the Local Government Pensions Schemes (LGPS) community and their respective Consultants for all CD funds (with a large focus on Clean Energy Infrastructure / Renewables). The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, organized individual with private asset business development/sales experience and with an active network of investor relationships. This role will work closely with colleagues across Business Development (BD), Investment Management (IM), and Product Development & Strategy (PDS), and will be responsible for executing a successful business development and sales strategy for their respective territory.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage existing Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) relationships.
- Identify and introduce new potential investors to Capital Dynamics (“CD”) for products managed or advised by CD, as well as for separately managed accounts and other mandates/services.
- Represent CD at business development events, including press, conferences, and investor networking events.
- Work closely with CD’s product management and investment management teams to identify and develop new strategies, products, and business opportunities.
- Establish post-fundraising investor relations services for CD’s clients, excluding the provision of any investment or payment service and holding of funds or securities in the name and on behalf of the investors.
- Manage presentations to prospective investors and appropriately manage the follow-up necessary to provide investors comfort regarding the firm’s experience and investment capabilities.
- Respond to client requests and manage client communications efforts to promote continuous sales dialogue and to build client relationships.
Attributes:
- Minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in a financial services sales role, ideally at an asset management / private equity firm.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of alternative investments, including private equity and clean energy investing, and the UK LGPS market.
- A proven track record of raising new assets through sourcing opportunities independently.
- The ability to work directly with clients to understand needs and identify solutions.
- Can translate client requirements into CD product requirements, which can anticipate use for other clients.
- Ability to collect and analyze data; effectively translate into tactical and strategic business and product plans.
- An understanding of the local legal framework and documentation typical for private asset investment.
- Sound investment judgment with a keen awareness of risk, return and exposure management.
Education and Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a financially related field is preferred.
- Preference for an advanced degree, such as an MBA, or a professional certification, such as the CFA or CAIA, but not essential.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Languages: Must be fluent in English and display superior writing skills.
