We are seeking a Group Market Abuse Controls Officer to support the development and enhancement of the firm’s market abuse surveillance framework across all regulated entities. The role will focus on the design and implementation of new alerts, quality assurance testing and rolling out processes group-wide. This position is critical to ensuring that the firm maintains robust surveillance capabilities and meets its regulatory obligations in preventing market abuse.
Responsibilities
- Framework Design & Development
- Design and configure new surveillance alerts to detect potential market abuse, including insider dealing, market manipulation, and other abusive practices.
- Support the ongoing development and refinement of the group’s market abuse framework across all regulated entities.
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct QA and validation of new and existing alerts to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and regulatory alignment.
- Review and test system changes and upgrades impacting surveillance capabilities.
- Maintain clear documentation of alert design, testing, and QA outcomes.
- Group Roll-Out & Harmonisation
- Drive consistent implementation of surveillance processes and standards across the group.
- Collaborate with local compliance teams to ensure harmonisation and adoption of group standards.
- Share knowledge and best practices across entities to strengthen the firm’s global compliance posture.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare reports and MI on surveillance activity, QA outcomes and framework developments for senior management.
- Liaise with Risk, Operations, IT, and Front Office to ensure surveillance systems and processes are effective and fit for purpose.
- Support interactions with regulators and auditors during inspections and thematic reviews.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in compliance, surveillance, or market abuse within a regulated financial services firm (CFD/spread betting experience preferred).
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of trade surveillance tools, alert design, testing, and calibration.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Good understanding of MAR (Market Abuse Regulation) and equivalent global requirements.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret trading data, identify suspicious patterns, and assess control effectiveness.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, able to prepare clear documentation and reports.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to work collaboratively across jurisdictions and functions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong QA and validation skills, with a methodical and structured approach.
- Optional: Experience within the CFD industry; Experience using Scila surveillance system.
