The Operational Director acts as a strategic and operational partner to the CIO/CISO, driving alignment, efficiency, and transparency across Technology and Security functions. This role ensures that organisational goals are translated into clear execution plans, supported by effective structures, resource planning, and consistent delivery across teams.
Responsibilities
- Organisational Design & Career Frameworks – Develop and maintain career paths for IT and Security teams; define roles, responsibilities and maturity levels (junior → senior → lead → head); align with corporate grading and competency frameworks; maintain the organisational structure and role model as a single source of truth.
- Resource Planning & Team Coordination – Lead centralised workforce and capacity planning across all functions; coordinate hiring forecasts and align headcount plans with budget and strategy; collaborate with HR and functional leaders to monitor performance and engagement; manage and optimise external workforce (contractors, vendors) ensuring quality and consistency.
- Cross-Functional Alignment – Ensure seamless collaboration between IT, Security, Product, Engineering, and other departments; maintain and update the RACI model for cross-functional processes; support alignment of IT/Security initiatives with company-wide OKRs and priorities; contribute to the development and upkeep of operational playbooks and procedures.
- Operational Rhythm & Reporting – Coordinate operational cadence: team meetings, planning sessions and reviews; oversee OKRs and KPIs across technology and security domains; prepare executive reports and dashboards for senior leadership; track compliance status, audit findings and remediation progress.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in operational or program management roles.
- Solid understanding of IT governance and performance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and planning skills with focus on data-driven decisions.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
