This full‑time, permanent Head of Welfare & Student Finance will lead welfare, LAC and financial support services across the college. The role requires senior leadership experience, a strategic mindset, and the ability to shape and deliver high‑quality, inclusive support for a diverse student population.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and direction for student finance, welfare and student support, and provision for looked‑after and care‑experienced learners.
- Set vision, lead service development, and ensure high‑quality, outcome‑focused support.
- Drive strategic planning, performance management and continuous improvement aligned with organisational priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee bursaries, hardship funding, budgets, and ensure services are compliant, transparent, and student‑centred.
- Act as Designated Staff member for care‑experienced learners, driving multi‑agency partnerships and embedding robust support systems.

About You
We seek a senior leader with:
- Proven experience in a Head of Service (or equivalent senior leadership) role, with responsibility for setting strategy and leading through others.
- A strong track record of leading and improving student support, welfare, or learner services within education or a comparable complex organisation.
- Demonstrable experience of strategic planning, service transformation and performance management.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience of managing budgets, bursaries or funding streams and using data to inform decision‑making.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, including experience of working across organisational boundaries and with external partners.
- In‑depth understanding of learner finance, bursaries and financial support systems, including relevant statutory guidance.
