Are you passionate about supporting young people to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make informed decisions about their future? We are looking for an experienced and motivated Careers and Employability Adviser to join our dynamic Enterprise, Employability and Careers (EEC) team. This is a key role within our student support services, working with a wide range of learners across post-16 and adult education. You will provide personalised guidance and coordinate high-quality careers education and employability activities that support progression into university, apprenticeships, employment or enterprise.

This role is offered on a part time (7 hours per week, preferably Friday), fixed term. The contract will end in 29 January 2027. You will work closely with the EEC Manager, curriculum teams and external partners to plan and deliver an engaging careers programme aligned with the Matrix Standard and Gatsby Benchmarks. You will support learners through one-to-one guidance, targeted group sessions and by leading events such as careers fairs, employer talks, and university visits. Supporting the development of employability skills and widening participation will be central to your work. You will need to be confident speaking to groups of students, delivering in classrooms, and representing the service in front of external stakeholders including employers and university partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one careers guidance tailored to individual needs
  • Deliver group sessions on HE pathways, apprenticeships, employability and enterprise
  • Advise students on Student Finance and bursary support options
  • Coordinate careers events, workshops, and university visits
  • Develop digital and print resources to support students’ career planning
  • Work with curriculum teams to embed careers education and support CPD
  • Use up-to-date Labour Market Information to inform guidance and teaching
  • Monitor impact and contribute to continuous improvement of the service

You will join a friendly, professional team committed to delivering high-quality support across the college. Working together, you’ll help create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. You will be joining a dynamic and supportive team of colleagues who are committed to excellence. The team has a strong collaborative culture, sharing best practice and innovative approaches.

About You

We’re looking for a reliable and motivated individual who takes pride in delivering excellent service. You will hold a Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance: or a Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance with a clear commitment to undertake Level 6. A Level 4 or above is essential. Applicants without a recognised careers guidance qualification at Level 4 or above will not be shortlisted as you will not meet this requirement. You will be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with students from a range of backgrounds. A clear understanding of post-18 pathways including UCAS, apprenticeships and vocational routes is essential. Most importantly, you’ll be ready to make a positive contribution to our college community.

  • Access to TELLUS – our discount and wellbeing platform
  • Participation in the Cycle to Work scheme
  • Interest-free season ticket loans for public transport
  • Annual eye tests and contributions towards spectacles
  • Flu vaccinations and access to occupational health services
