The ideal candidate is UK based and a skilled creative professional experienced in Web Design specialising in WordPress that thrives in a team environment. You will create the look, layout and features of our product tools, websites and landing pages.
Capital Business Media owns a number of the UK’s leading magazines and operates from offices in London, New York, and Florida. With a goal to double its online, magazine-style content brands over the next year through both acquisition and new launches, there’s never been a more exciting time to join this dynamic organisation.
As the Web Designer (WordPress Specialist), you will collaborate closely with the in-house Graphic Design team and various internal stakeholders. Your primary focus will be redesigning and maintaining the company’s stable of current and future magazine and corporate websites, as well as client sites and HTML email templates. You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of web projects - from concept to launch - ensuring modern, responsive, and engaging web experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate: Work with internal teams to gather requirements and understand design objectives.
- Design & Development: Transform concepts into responsive WordPress websites that meet internal or client specifications and continually improve and optimize user experience for the sites.
- Creative Input: Contribute to digital design assets, including website layouts, graphics, and HTML email templates.
- Testing & QA: Conduct thorough testing and proofing before delivering finished sites, ensuring cross-browser and device compatibility.
- Maintenance & Updates: Perform regular site updates, troubleshoot issues, and optimise site structure for SEO.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining clear communication and meeting deadlines.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in WordPress, including theme customisation and plugin management. Good understanding of HTML, CSS, and basic web development principles. Familiarity with User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) best practices. Knowledge of SEO best practices and cross-browser compatibility.
- Design Aptitude: Demonstrable graphic design abilities, with a good eye for layout and aesthetic detail. Experience with Photoshop (or equivalent) for creating and editing images.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team. Solid written English and copywriting ability. Strong problem-solving skills with the capacity to work independently. Ability to prioritise tasks and adhere to multiple simultaneous deadlines.
- Proven web design or WordPress experience, or a relevant design-related qualification.
