Recruiting tomorrow’s Army today. Be the best to support the best! Recruiting Group runs Assessment Centres (AC) for Regular and Reserve Officer and Soldier candidates, which must be passed before applicants are offered a Basic Training place. The Senior Nurse will oversee the management of the Medical Wing. Working as part of the team you will need a calm, efficient and professional disposition to be able to create an environment where a candidate can undergo medical assessment for fitness to join the British Army. This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week at the Assessment Centre in Westbury.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing the full medical screening process, ensuring accurate testing, appropriate clinical decisions, and high-quality documentation.
  • Delivering and supporting training, development, and auditing for all medical screening staff while maintaining own NMC-compliant professional development.
  • Conducting and reviewing a range of medical tests, querying abnormalities, and making suitability decisions in line with current guidelines.
  • Providing clinical advice, liaising with healthcare professionals, and contributing to clinical governance and safe practice.
  • Coordinating medical clinics and resources, managing equipment, upholding safety standards (including waste disposal), and supporting candidate care.

Essential – Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Full registration with the NMC, with no restrictions/sanctions against practice nor pending hearings.
  • Experience in Health Screening.
  • Understanding of medical equipment and associated consumables used in testing.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to collaborate with colleagues, discuss complex medical conditions and communicate clearly via Teams or email.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Competently using IT Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.

Desired – Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience with the military would be an advantage, but not essential.
