What you'll be doing
The primary objective of this role is to gather, analyse, and document business requirements, map processes, and act as the interface between business stakeholders and technical teams. The Software Business Analyst ensures user needs are clearly defined and translated into actionable deliverables, supporting the delivery of automation and integration projects across multiple workstreams. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders and end users to drive process improvement and support successful solution delivery.
- Capture business and user requirements (as stories for agile delivery).
- Ensure requirements are understood, developed, tested, and delivered to specification.
- Map and document business processes, identifying opportunities for automation and optimisation.
- Own the relationship with project stakeholders to identify, prioritise, model, and document business, process, and data requirements.
- Represent project stakeholders throughout planning, development, and release processes.
- Support solution design workshops and contribute to integration planning activities.
- Collaborate with QA teams to define acceptance criteria and support user acceptance testing.
- Work with stakeholders to drive adoption of new solutions and process changes.
- Ensure all deliverables adhere to GDS Service Standards, accessibility, and security requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working as a business analyst on software, automation, or integration projects.
- Strong process mapping and requirements documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Understanding of GDS principles and their application in digital service delivery.
- Experience with automation projects and integration with ERP or CRM systems (desirable).
- Knowledge of cloud-based platforms and APIs (desirable).
