Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster by preparing Royal Navy personnel for the challenges of the real world. In this role within the Hydrographic, Meteorological and Oceanographic Training Unit (HMTU), you’ll bring Meteorology and Oceanography to life—equipping learners with the knowledge and confidence they need to operate effectively in dynamic and demanding environments.

Full-time role – 37.5 hours a week at HMNB Devonport, Plymouth. Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Delivering high-quality training in Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) to support Royal Navy learners
  • Acting as a subject matter expert across METOC disciplines, providing technical knowledge and supporting effective training delivery
  • Preparing, delivering and assessing training to ensure learners achieve required standards and operational readiness
  • Contributing to the design, review and continuous improvement of training materials, courses and assessments
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues to maintain consistent delivery standards and share best practice across the training team
  • Ensuring a safe, inclusive and compliant learning environment, with a strong focus on duty of care, health, safety and environmental standards
What we’re looking for:Essential:
  • Qualification in Meteorology / Oceanography or proven relevant experience
  • Proven experience across both meteorology and oceanography
Desirable:
  • Instructional or training delivery experience/qualifications
  • Anti Submarine Warfare background or knowledge would be highly desirable
  • Aviation forecasting experience
