Overview

Join to apply for the NOC 24 x 7 Engineer role at Capita. This is a 24/7 shift role based in Kirkintilloch, Scotland, working days and nights to support the SPEN Network Operations Centre (NOC).

Responsibilities

This is a key customer-facing role, providing professional expertise on the day-to-day management of the SPEN strategic network. You will troubleshoot and resolve issues, liaise with Scottish Power staff and external suppliers to deliver within SLA timescales.

  • Respond to alerts, diagnosing and resolving issues in the SPEN strategic network
  • Collaborate with other teams to maintain and improve network operations
  • Implement corrective actions to ensure optimal network performance
  • Provide remote support to Field Engineers working on live incidents
  • Prioritise network alarms and incidents to fulfil KPI/SLA commitments
  • Liaise between internal departments, 3rd party suppliers and the Customer within agreed SLAs
  • Complete network reports and analysis when required
  • Ensure governance of processes within the NOC environment
  • Help drive improvement initiatives to conclusion within agreed timescales
  • Work well within the NOC team and adapt to a shift pattern

What we need from you

  • Capable of working on PDH, SDH & IP environments, ensuring proper functioning and integration within the broader network
  • Experience with System Management Platforms (e.g., CNMS, Nokia N-FMP, CISCO Prime)
  • Structured approach to delivery governance on complex networks
  • Understanding of network management and use of Network Management Platform tools
  • PC literate with Word/Excel/Visio/MS Project
  • Track record of prioritising simultaneous activities within SLA
  • Self-motivated with ability to develop strong customer relationships and work in a team
  • Strong interpersonal negotiating and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex customer interfaces
  • Planning and managing risk in a support environment
  • Ability to produce reports and manage \”special investigations\”
  • Proven track record in complex delivery
  • Knowledge of high voltage substation environment 33kv-400kv
