This is an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping future growth within DWP. As Market Development Director, you will use your DWP sector knowledge, relationships and business development expertise to identify strategic opportunities, build senior stakeholder networks, and develop compelling solutions that support DWP priorities. We’re looking for someone who can proactively create opportunities and bring together multiple strands of activity to deliver results.

What you’ll be doing:
- Develop targeted growth strategies across DWP business units, directorates and priority areas
- Originate and shape a pipeline of qualified opportunities from early engagement through to procurement
- Build senior-level relationships across DWP directorates, including policy, commercial, operational and digital functions
- Lead the co-creation of client-focused, outcome-led solutions and service offerings
- Translate DWP priorities into clear propositions that support service delivery, transformation and improved outcomes for citizens
- Use market insight to inform win strategies, partnering decisions and competitive positioning
What we’re looking for:
- Essential Experience winning new business within DWP or a comparable department of similar size and complexity
- Strong understanding of DWP organisational structure, funding models and procurement routes
- Experience selling across multiple DWP business areas, such as employment, health, digital or corporate services
- Ability to evidence where and when you have delivered similar work in central government environments
- Senior-level business development or market development capability, with experience originating opportunities and developing pipelines
- Ability to manage multiple strands of work independently and operate proactively at director level
Desirable:
- Existing senior-level network within DWP or closely connected DWP stakeholder environments
- Experience in professional services, consultancy or public sector advisory environments, with strong exposure to DWP programmes, priorities or transformation activity
