English Tutor / SpLD Adviser
Job Description:
Part‑time role, 30 hours a week (Monday–Friday) Plymouth Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering dynamic and engaging IGCSE, Functional Skills and Education for Promotion English tuition (or equivalents in devolved regions) – this will be classroom and remote teaching
- Coordinating and providing administrative support to examinations.
- Providing support, including as a personal tutor, as required to individuals with their English learning
- Liaising with personnel referring individuals for neurodiversity and SpLD assessment and support
- Conducting screening to identify typical neurodiversity/SpLD traits (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia) and recommending any further action based on the results (including referrals to suitably qualified professionals and support organisations)
- Processing and authorising neurodiversity/SpLD concessions for internal examinations
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
- Min of level 3 or equivalent in Teaching
- Experience of Teaching English language
- Minimum of level 3 in English (minimum of GCSE in English)
- Experience of working with neurodiverse pupils
Desirable:
- Any experience of teaching functional skills would be desirable (Maths/English/IT)
- Any experience of teaching adults/further education would be highly desirable
- Ideally hold SpLD level 5 but this can be done as part of the role
