We are recruiting for a Head of Quality Assurance to join our busy team in Capita HAAS (Health Assessment Advisory Service). The successful candidate will lead independent assurance of clinical and operational quality within HAAS. The role provides objective oversight, audit, assurance and insight into whether quality standards, controls and governance are operating effectively, and whether risks to service, clinical safety and contractual performance are being identified and managed appropriately. This is a home-based role with occasional travel for meetings required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the independent quality assurance and audit framework across Lot 2 and Lot 5.
  • Operate as a key component of the Clinical Governance framework, providing assurance that clinical risks, controls and mitigations are effective.
  • Ensure assurance activity provides clear, credible and timely insight into clinical quality, operational quality and compliance with contractual, regulatory and internal standards.
  • Identify systemic quality, safety or control risks and ensure these are escalated through the appropriate governance forums.
  • Support the Head of Clinical Services by providing deep insight into emerging trends, failure points and areas of exposure.
  • Lead and develop Quality Assurance and Audit teams across Lots 2 and 5.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience leading quality, assurance or clinical governance functions in complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong track record of delivering quality improvement with measurable impact.
  • Experience balancing quality, risk and delivery pressures in high-volume operational settings.
  • Confident operating with senior stakeholders and challenging constructively where required.
  • Strong people leadership and development capability.

About HAAS:

The Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) arranges and carries out assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Communities (DfC). The purpose of the assessment is to understand how an illness or disability affects a person’s daily life. After the assessment, the DWP/DfC makes the decision as to whether the individual will receive any benefits. The Health Assessment Advisory Service is delivered on behalf of the DWP & DfC by Capita.
