As an English Teacher, you’ll support international Naval personnel to develop the language skills they need to succeed in a global defence environment—building confidence, capability, and cross-cultural understanding.
Location: Dartmouth, United Kingdom
Working Hours: 37.5 hours a week, 45 weeks a year (term time). The role is offered on a term time basis working 44 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. Salary is pro rata and includes contractual annual leave and bank holidays.
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Deliver high-quality English language teaching to international Naval students.
- Plan and prepare lessons, assessments, and supporting training materials.
- Mark work and provide constructive feedback to support learner progress.
- Contribute to the design and development of training courses and materials.
- Ensure a safe, compliant, and professional learning environment at all times.
Essential Requirements:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Certificate or equivalent such as DELTA.
- Undergraduate degree ideally in English or Modern Languages.
- Experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Desirable Requirements:
- TESOL/CELTA Certificate or equivalent.
- ILM Level 3 Award (Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Management).
