Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level. Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster - Your role will be to maintain water safety equipment, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures during the training of Royal Navy recruits. You may also be required to deliver training in Seamanship aspects such as Rigging (splicing), water safety equipment maintainer/supervisor, sea survival techniques - full training will be given.
What you'll be doing:
- Responsible for the maintaining and day to day running of water safety equipment for HMS Raleigh and local outstations utilising the Water safety equipment log.
- Act as a safety surface swimmer in a swimming pool environment to facilitate delivery of training.
- Provide demonstrations of equipment and drills.
- Act as expert end user for specified training equipment.
- Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with.
- You may also be required to carry out the following - training will be given: Deliver instruction in Seamanship aspects such as Rigging (splicing), water safety equipment maintainer/supervisor, sea survival techniques.
- Undertake direct support tasks for training delivery activity, post‑delivery assessments and post‑delivery activities.
Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience as a Water safety equipment maintainer.
- Competent swimmer.
- Proficient in using IT within the workplace.
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- DTC (defence trainer course) or equivalent.
- Experience in splicing various types of cordage.
- Lifting equipment examiner.
