We are seeking a Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer to join our 24/7 Technology Operations Command Centre operation based at Hill View House, Newtownabbey. This is a hands-on, shift-based role operating in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment, responsible for the monitoring, diagnosis, and resolution of network incidents across a diverse, mission-critical customer estate.

Working Pattern:

  • 24/7 shift-based role (days and nights)
  • Typical pattern: 4 on / 4 off
  • Day shifts: 07:00-19:00
  • Night shifts: 19:00-07:00

What we are looking for:

  • Practical experience in troubleshooting across routing and switching technologies.
  • Experience working as a Network Engineer in an enterprise or service provider environment is desirable.
  • Ideally an understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF).
  • Desirable to have experience supporting multi-vendor environments (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, AWS).
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and ticketing systems (e.g. SolarWinds, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and methodical during high-severity incidents.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
  • Team-oriented, with the confidence to take ownership of incidents and decisions.

Qualifications:

  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification is desirable but not essential (CCNP, JNCIA advantageous).
  • Eligible to obtain Security Clearance.

Based onsite within our brand new Technology Operations Command Centre, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of complex network and systems environments, working closely with internal engineering teams and third-party suppliers.

What you'll be doing:

  • Proactively monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g. SolarWinds, PRTG, Juniper MIST).
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network faults across LAN, WAN, SDWAN and telecoms services while minimising service impact.
  • Log, manage, and progress incidents and service requests through the full lifecycle, maintaining accurate updates and detailed documentation.
  • Work within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely resolution and high first-time fix rates.
  • Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance activities, deploying patches, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes as required.
  • Produce clear incident reports, shift handovers, and technical documentation.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers or external vendors where appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, remaining calm under pressure.
