Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster

As a Bridge simulator controller you will join a team that supports training in the Royal Navy’s Navigation Training Unit at HMS Collingwood. This team works side by side with Royal Naval (RN) instructors and provides a key contribution to the professional development of RN and foreign naval personnel through career and other courses, in preparation for operational duties in the Fleet.

This role involves a 2 week shift pattern:

Week 1 Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm

Week 2 Monday to Thursday 3.30pm to 11pm

This averages as 32.75 hours per week for pay

Full training on the Simulator will be provided – no previous experience necessary What you will be doing:

  • Working with Instructors to load simulations on to the systems/simulators, controlling the simulator and providing appropriate inputs and responses during a training scenario

  • Managing the simulation exercises (malfunctions, machinery, man over board etc)

  • Performing role play duties covering different scenarios

  • Preparing, reviewing and updating training scenarios and support material

  • Suitable candidates will hold a STCW II/1 qualification or an RN equivalent (bridge watchkeeping Cert.)

  • Previous experience in the Royal/Merchant Navy

  • Good IT skills (MS Office)

  • Good communication skills

  • Must be able to be cleared to UK SC level, Disability Confident
