Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster

Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver \”better trained sailors to the front line faster\”.

Your primarily role will be to deliver training on Mathematics (Level 3 & 4) and potentially Physics (Level 3, 4 & 5) in support of the Royal Navy to degree level in HMS Collingwood to support those doing their Foundation Degrees in Engineering.

This is a term time only role with 2 weeks leave at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

Job Description:

What you\’ll be doing

  • Delivering advanced Mathematics (Levels 3-5) to Royal Navy personnel at HMS Collingwood and periodically (every 2 years for 3 weeks) at HMS Drake (Hydrography Department).
  • If qualified Deliver Physics (Level 3, 4 & 5)
  • Supporting continuous improvement in training quality, performance, and teaching practices, including the integration of learning technologies.
  • Contributing to transformation initiatives, particularly within learning service delivery, aligning with broader programme objectives.
  • Leveraging experience in defence training environments, ideally within the Royal Navy, to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Building strong customer relationships and collaborate across functional teams to support service delivery and performance improvements.

Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Physics qualification to at least GCSE level
  • Previous teaching experience would be highly desirable
  • Teaching qualification to at leave level 3 would be advantageous
  • Understanding of the Royal Navy

About Selborne

Selborne is a wide scale, 12 year transformation of Royal Navy Training. The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN.
