We're currently recruiting for a Council Tax Property Inspector to join the team.

Responsibilities

  • Regular inspections of domestic properties or sites that have been given planning permission and visiting commercial properties.
  • Ensuring new builds are identified and brought onto the council tax list promptly.
  • Establishing liability or entitlement to tax discount, exemption or reliefs, in line with legislation and policy. Taking appropriate action where reliefs no longer apply.
  • Arranging appointments with landlords, agents, business owners, etc to gain access to premises.
  • Ensuring the database is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
  • Liaising with other agencies and other departments within the council.
  • All admin work related to inspections.

About You

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of current legislation and best practice.
  • A good manner and ability to deal with customers with sympathy and tact.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Prepared to drive to properties across the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire District Council areas (company car available).
