We're currently recruiting for a Council Tax Property Inspector to join the team.
Responsibilities
- Regular inspections of domestic properties or sites that have been given planning permission and visiting commercial properties.
- Ensuring new builds are identified and brought onto the council tax list promptly.
- Establishing liability or entitlement to tax discount, exemption or reliefs, in line with legislation and policy. Taking appropriate action where reliefs no longer apply.
- Arranging appointments with landlords, agents, business owners, etc to gain access to premises.
- Ensuring the database is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
- Liaising with other agencies and other departments within the council.
- All admin work related to inspections.
About You
- Excellent communication skills.
- Solid understanding of current legislation and best practice.
- A good manner and ability to deal with customers with sympathy and tact.
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Prepared to drive to properties across the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire District Council areas (company car available).
