As an English Teacher, you'll support international Naval personnel to develop the language skills they need to succeed in a global defence environment, building confidence, capability, and cross-cultural understanding.
Full-time role – 37.5 hours a week – Term‑time only 45 weeks a year Dartmouth. Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What you'll be doing:
- Deliver high-quality English language teaching to international Naval students
- Plan and prepare lessons, assessments, and supporting training materials
- Mark work and provide constructive feedback to support learner progress
- Contribute to the design and development of training courses and materials
- Ensure a safe, compliant, and professional learning environment at all times
What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Certificate or equivalent such as DELTA
- UK Undergraduate Degree ideally in English or Modern Languages
- Experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages
Desirable:
- TESOL/CELTA Certificate or equivalent
- ILM Level 3 Award (Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Management)

This role is offered on a term‑time basis working 44 weeks per year, with non‑working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro‑rated and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
