Specialist Teacher Consultant
Company: Capita plc.
Location: ST17 0XA.
Job type: Permanent.
Are you an experienced education professional with a passion for inclusion, school improvement and supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential?
What you'll be doing
As a trusted specialist adviser, you'll work closely with schools, academies, educational leaders and local authority partners to support the development of inclusive practices and high-quality provision for children and young people with additional needs.
You’ll contribute to the continued growth and success of Entrust’s Education Improvement Services, helping schools identify strengths, address challenges and implement effective strategies that improve outcomes. Drawing on your specialist knowledge and practical experience, you’ll provide advice, challenge and guidance across a range of SEND, SEMH and inclusion‑related areas.
A key part of the role will involve undertaking assessments, evaluating existing provision and helping educational settings develop effective and sustainable approaches to inclusion. You’ll also support workforce development through training, coaching and professional advice, ensuring school staff have the knowledge and confidence to meet the needs of all learners.
Working collaboratively with schools, local authorities and external agencies, you’ll champion best practice, support compliance with statutory requirements and help create learning environments where every child can thrive.
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a minimum of five years’ teaching experience across a range of educational settings.
- A strong track record of improving outcomes for children and young people within SEND, SEMH and inclusion.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of behaviour management and supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Experience of providing advice, support and challenge to educational settings.
- The ability to undertake individual pupil assessments and provide practical recommendations.
- Experience of delivering training, coaching or professional development programmes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
- A sound understanding of current SEND legislation, guidance and educational frameworks.
- Experience of working collaboratively with schools, local authorities and external agencies.
- The ability to build positive and effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive, flexible and self‑motivated approach, with the ability to work independently.
- SENCo experience or additional SEND qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Confidence using technology and AI tools to support productivity and service delivery.
