The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Operations Director (Interim) to lead day-to-day operations for our new Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS), delivering for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in the Midlands and Wales and the Department for Communities (DfC) in Northern Ireland. You will shape a high performing, inclusive culture, drive operational excellence, and lead transformation that improves efficiency, quality and outcomes across a complex, multisite service.
About HAAS
HAAS brings together assessment services for disabled people and those with health conditions under a single provider in each region, making access to support simpler and easier for some of society's most vulnerable people. We deliver assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Work Capability Assessments (WCA) and a number of Specialist Benefits (SB), building on our experience since 2013.
What you will be doing
- Leading operations to deliver service excellence and contractual performance across regions.
- Setting and executing operational strategies that achieve business objectives and continuous improvement.
- Building, mentoring and inspiring a high performing, diverse operations leadership team.
- Monitoring performance, using insight to optimise productivity, quality, and cost.
- Acting as a key point of contact for operational updates, escalations and strategic initiatives.
- Driving transformation across process, digital engagement and workforce capability.
- Ensuring robust risk management, safeguarding, data protection and policy compliance (client and Capita).
- Championing a collaborative culture aligned to our values; nurturing talent and progression.
- Managing suppliers and partners to optimise delivery and value.
- Preparing and presenting regular operational performance reports to senior leadership.
What you will bring (Essential)
- Proven leadership in large scale, complex operations - ideally within health or similar regulated environments.
- A strong track record delivering complex KPIs and contractual obligations.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills with senior client and executive audiences.
- Evidenced experience leading transformation and change at scale.
- Analytical, decisive mindset focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and resources.
- Ability to thrive in fast paced, dynamic settings and balance multiple priorities.
