This Worker engagement opportunity is pivotal to the Royal Air Force (RAF) in support of its recruiting operation delivering an exceptional candidate experience throughout an inclusive recruitment process. As a medical doctor, engaged on Worker basis, you'll be carrying out efficient medical screenings ensuring the right candidates pass assessment and contribute to the recruitment of quality people in sufficient numbers to maintain the operational capability of the Royal Air Force today and in the future.
Delivering your services, alongside a dedicated group of medical examiners and other clinical staff, your work will contribute directly to our national security effort and make a huge difference in the local community. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody looking for a different kind of clinical engagement but will still make the most of their skills and experience.
Locations for this role are Newcastle and Hexham. Preferably ability to commit to at least 2 days (16 hours) a week, mostly in Newcastle with every other Monday in Hexham. This is on a flexible basis during Monday to Friday and occasional opportunities during the weekend.
What you'll be doing:
- Conducting clinical work, including face-to-face medical assessments assessed against the Tri-service entry medical standard
- Assessing candidate's medical records as part of the medical assessment process
- Updating the Capita Service Entry Medical Report (SEMR) with the findings and results of the candidate medical assessment including medical records and the face-to-face examination
- Assessing the clinical conditions of candidates to determine their fitness for entry into the Royal Air Force
- Making recommendations to the Royal Air Force colleagues on the medical suitability of the candidates
- Maintaining GMC registration, licence to practise, accreditation and skill mix
What we're looking for:
- A fully GMC qualified medical practitioner with licence to practise, without restriction
- IT literacy and experience with Microsoft programmes
- Flexibility to travel
- Excellent organisational skills
- The ability to work effectively and efficiently to tight deadlines
- An effective communicator in person and on paper
