At Capita, we’re looking for compassionate and detail-oriented professionals to join our Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) as Functional Specialists. We are seeking an experienced and committed Functional Assessors who are already approved WCA Assessors to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll use your clinical knowledge to carry out functional assessments and compile evidence-based reports that help the Northern Ireland Department for Communities (NIDfC) or the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) make informed decisions about benefit claims.
About HAAS
The Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) arranges and carries out assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Communities (DfC). The purpose of the assessment is to understand how an illness or disability affects a person’s daily life. After the assessment, the DWP/DfC makes the decision as to whether the individual will receive any benefits. The Health Assessment Advisory Service is delivered on behalf of the DWP & DfC by Capita.
Job Description
What You’ll be doing:
- Conduct telephone functional assessments of individuals with disabilities or health conditions.
- Compile clear, concise and factual medical reports - no treatment or diagnosis required.
- Collaborate with Regional Managers and administrators to meet service level agreements.
- Use IT systems to support clinical decision-making and report writing.
- Embrace ongoing feedback and professional development.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking for:
- DfC / DWP Approval as a WCA Assessor.
- One year's post-registration experience as a nurse (RMN, RNLD, RGN), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, paramedic or doctor.
- Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, GMC), without restriction or conditions and with a valid PIN.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- A professional, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to undergo BPSS security clearance.
Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete government baseline personnel security standard vetting. This is the recognised standard for the pre-employment screening of individuals with access to government assets.
